Today, I was reading a news about a person died at the gate of a hospital because hospital did not provided him the required treatment, due to the lack of money. It is a sad situation that people are dying due to lack of medical facilities.

I am thinking what will happen if government make it mandatory for all hospitals (govt & private) to treat each and every person free of cost. Say a person suffering from any disease no matter how big or small, will get quality treatment. What I am trying to say is that the healthcare services should be free for all. It includes everything, whether it is medicines or blood tests or simply a diagnosis.

When it is mandatory for all hospitals to provide medical facilities free of cost then there will be no difference among the quality of the services and treatment. Everyone will get best quality of medical facilities. There will be no difference between services provided by various hospitals.

By this, no one will die due to the lack of medical treatment. The reason behind this is very simple. At present, most of the hospitals have fewer occupancy because the cost of treatment is quite high i.e. not easily bearable by an average Indian. Hospitals prefer not to diagnose a patient until they are sure that the patient can bear full treatment cost. Due to which some hospitals are over-crowded with patients. This is like discriminating a patient and the kind of service on the basis of the amount of money one can pay. The patients who are paying more, gets better medical facilities as compared to those who can’t pay that much amount. In current scenario, medical facilities are money making machine. They have no duty towards the society and have no social concern, just a mere business.

Is it possible that our government pass RIGHT TO GOOD HEALTH bill which ensures that the medical services should be free for every citizen of the country?

  1. Puneet, well its a good idea, appreciated. It is the same procedure which developed countires adopt to keep their people healthy like GB, US etc. Most of the medical facilities are absolutely free or reither covered under medical policies which are easier to buy and at a very reasonable price. In India, all the medical facilities are available but at a very high cost. If a person goes a private hospital, keeping the safety and the health of the patient aside ,it will create a deep hole in your pocket. And by mistake if a person cannot afford private hospitals, he has to stand long in the queues for government facilities. Most of the doctors which are rendering there services in government hospitals are running after their private clinic.

So it would be a big step which government can take to make their people healthy, and if the people are healthy, wealth follows itself!!!
